Microsoft Updates OneNote for iOS with Office Document Support

OneNote-iOS-iTunes-696x300

The latest update for OneNote on iOS allows users to manage and edit Office documents directly within a note, while also adding the ability to share notifications.

Microsoft is continuing to bolster OneNote with more functionality and today the company is focusing on the iOS version of the note taking application.

A new update boosts the functionality of the service for those rocking the app on Apple’s mobile platform, adding such features as the ability to view, edit, and save Office documents that are embedded in an OneNote page.

Not the most extensive of upgrades maybe, but it does at least bring the iOS version of Microsoft’s note taking service closer to its native Windows variant.

The full changelog included in build 15.22 looks like this:

“Office™ To-Go”: You can now view, edit, and save Office documents embedded in a OneNote page, making on-the-go changes quicker and simpler.

Better Together: Sharing Notifications We’ll let you know when someone makes a change in a shared notebook. Check the in-app Notification Center for details.

New Typefaces: We’ve added several new typeface options for Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Japanese scripts.

Microsoft has been doing a lot with OneNote over the last couple of months, with the iOS app getting some love last month when the company updated it with compatibility with the new 9.7-inch iPad Pro. The bigger screen on the tablet means the app can now upload more than one image to a post at once, while URLs can now be added to a playable view.

OneNote on Windows has also been getting attention with an update that added audio support to the Windows 10 version of the app. Back in March, Microsoft added a tool that lets Evernote users test out OneNote without losing any of their content, a bid to entice more users from the rival service.
